I'm old enough to remember the Sixties, the assassinations of President Kennedy and Martin Luther King, the launching of Concorde, the American moon landing and other iconic events of the 20th century. And young enough to love the internet, e-mail, mobile phones, and salsa dancing!
Like many writers I started in childhood, writing long adventure stories modelled on A F Tschiffeley's "Tale of Two Horses". My stories made my father roar with laughter but, undaunted, I went on in later years to publish a good deal of short fiction. It was only after a very frightening encounter with cancer in 2000 that I began to concentrate on poetry During the long period of recovery I wrote about the cancer experience and also about a great many events that came back into my mind as if everything I'd ever felt or observed came suddenly crowding in, demanding to be expressed
In the last 3 years my work has been published in The Journal, Iota, Mslexia, Envoi, Poetry Monthly, Poetry Scotland, Never Bury Poetry, Cadenza and Aireings..I have also had a good number of poems broadcast on BBC Radio Merseyside on the "First Friday" and "Artwaves" programmes. And won a few prizes/ been shortlisted in competitions.-
I hope you enjoy reading the poems posted here. They will be updated regularly, so do please revisit the site at a future date.
